LINC, in partnership with the Provincial Clinical Specialist Team (PCST) and District Clinical Specialist Team (DCST) obstetricians, has been hard at work supporting the Maternal Health Programme, in an effort to devise strategies to improve antenatal care and intrapartum care in the province. LINC members, together with the Provincial Maternal Health Manager, are enthusiastic Doulas-in-training and eager to start implementing the Doula concept, starting with empowering birth companions, in the public sector. The team spent 2 highly productive days developing the Limpopo Maternal Care (LIMMCARE) Package which is anticipated to be completed early 2017. LIMMCARE encompasses the principles of Respectful Maternity Care, Birth Companionship/Doula and Antenatal Care. We look forward to breathing life into LIMMCARE.
